Now that good weather is here, Ward 5 residents can spend the weekend shopping and grazing at local markets, scouring for bargains and stocking up on farm fresh goods and produce.


Bloomingdale Farmers Market
Sundays, 10am-2pm at 1st and R Street NW

Produce, eggs, pasta, sauces, jams, flowers, plants, mushrooms, cheese, yogurt, bread, pastries, pastured lamb, beef, pork & goat, herbs, and greens. NEW THIS YEAR: artisanal gnocchi, linguine, spaghetti, cavatelli, sausage raviolo, rabbit ravioli, mushroom ravioli, ricotta-spinach ravioli. And 500 jars of unique, late-harvest local tomato sauce.

Note: In May, Brookland resident Avner Ofer, last year’s Brookland market manager, prevailed in his lawsuit against the Brookland CDC for failing to pay him wages owed. Mr. Ofer was awarded $4,440.
