District Scraps Plan for New Libraries in Ward 5
The plan to build new libraries in Ward 5 was quietly eliminated from the District’s 2010 budget. Previously, the District had planned to spend $20 million to build two new libraries in Ward 5 to replace the aging facilities in Woodridge and Lamond-Riggs.

Brookland Hill Is On the Move
The hill on Otis Street between 12th and 13th Street has been a problem for as long as anyone can remember. The unkempt hill, more than 300 feet long and unrestrained by any retaining wall, sidewalk or curb, is gradually making its way across the street.
