Brookland Heartbeat is a non-profit community newspaper that began in June 2005.

The printing and mailing costs of Brookland Heartbeat are sponsored by the Brookland office of Long and Foster Real Estate. Advertising revenue is spent on printing, mailing and administrative costs. No one at Brookland Heartbeat receives a salary, and Brookland Heartbeat is solely responsible for the content.
